A review of SkyRock
Site: Skyrock

Members: Over 11 million
Features: Skyrock is a multilingual site based out of France that centers on a basic blogging platform. The idea of the blog is to be a content hub for photos, videos, and written content. The site has a profile feature, messaging, and friend inviting option. The site has a lot of features you see on other social networking sites like profiles can be put up against each other in duels, pictures can be voted on, and there is a rating system for content.
There is a chat function as well, when I was on the site there were over 3,000 active chatters on line mostly European based.
Review: People criticize MySpace as being horribly designed and the profiles being ugly to look at well Skyrock apparently wants to remain in that competition. The site comes off as overly cluttered, it doesn’t matter if it is the homepage or one of the main pages of the features, Skyrock tries to jam as much shit onto them as possible.
None of the features of the site set it apart from other general social networking sites. It just comes off as a wannabe MySpace, Bebo, or Friendster.
The one thing I do like about the site is that they give the blogging community a little more relevance on this site. MySpace has a vibrant blogging community but they do everything they can it seems to alienate it, from continually not fixing the tools that are available to looking at blog content creators as second class citizens unless they are celebrities.
