Features: Colonies allows users to share interests by uploading content, conversing in different methods, and creating events. As far as content goes users have the ability to upload videos, photos, art, articles, short stories, poems, bloopers, captions, cartoons, comics, games, and jokes.
Users can communicated via messaging, blogs, chat, and forums.
Review: Colonies has a ton of content but most of it is outdated. The site has had content as recently as the start of the month generated but in most categories it is a handful of submissions per month. The forums have some activity but most of it peaked awhile ago.
The design does have an outdated feel compared to other social networking sites in the general category. While I like the idea of breaking up the content into multiple subgroups there just isn’t a solid community here or a good design to support it.
