Humble Voice Site Review

Site: Humblevoice.com

Members: ??? I haven’t found clear cut numbers on this

Features: Humble Voice talks about how the site is made for artists by artists, and it is crystal clear that content is king here. The site is truly designed for people to discover your writing, music, photography, or art; which makes this a good place to promote some of your individual work if you fall in this niche. People can browse, find featured artists, and just randomly look at entries for all the different genres. You can also setup a profile under each different type of niche, in fact they encourage you to.

One of the interesting features that you see in a lot of artist based communities on the web is that you get back what you put into it. Humble Voice has a point system that rewards you for participation. Whenever you upload content, message, tag, or pretty much do anything on the site you earn points which can later be redeemed for merchandise or offers. Humble Voice also expands more into written word which is a little bit of a differentiator from Deviant Art.

The site offers a very unique design feature that seems to be Ajax based, so if your web connection is slow it is very frustrating to use. You can drag and drop most of your profile parts just like you used to be able to on tagworld and how you can on Facebook, almost like they are wigetized.

Review:

I like the idea behind the site but I HATE the user interface and the way profile design is setup. Sure you can drag and drop your components in endless combinations but the process just feels time consuming and clunky. They are correct that this site is designed by artists for artists because it looks good but the functionality is a pain.

In comparing this to other art sites I think it is closer towards Deviant Art but with a little bit more mature tint to it. Humble Voice has been pretty aggressive in rolling out new features to the site and has even opened a forum for a user wish list, they really are attempting to put community first with this site.
