Site Review: BookMooch.com

By: Kevin Palmer on 11/09/2008

Site: BookMooch

Members: ???

Features: BookMooch is book-swapping service that allows you to give you’re your books to other members or charity. There is a point system that allows you to acquire points via listing books and participating by giving out books, these points are then redeemable for acquiring books from other users.
From a social networking perspective there are profiles with limited information and a forum section. Beyond that there aren’t other social capabilities, this site is designed for exchanging books and does a reasonably good job in presenting how to do that.

BookMooch interfaces with LibraryThing to maintain your collection of books and is very open about sharing their API.

Review: I like the idea behind BookMooch and am pretty interested in how the site is trying to work with other literary rating sites to update your inventory and ratings. The design is easy to get around and the site functions well.

I know there are a lot of other sites in this space and BookMooch is the first one that I have reviewed. It will be interesting to see how it stacks up against others in this niche.
